Frustrated

Well this is going to be another BLARG blog.... I am so frustrated, I did not get very much sleep at all last night. With John's mom being in the hospital again (I swear, Darrin or Ed if you are reading this and John finds out I posted this he will kill me since he hasn't contacted you guys yet!).... heh... and Nancy having died last night, I am very frustrated. Last night John's mom was taken by ambulance because she could not even sit up in bed, she hadn't had much of an appetite for the last while, and was only eating partial meals. Well, to make a long story short, the ER was packed last night, she finally got to one of the ICU departments at midnite... oddly enough, my friend Nancy was in the same hospital and died last night, I'm wondering if she was in the same ICU, let alone the same room... very eerie... Nancy never really bounced back from her heart attack, and last night when a friend went to visit, Nancy was not responsive, so they called Code Blue, and she was gone. I first met Nancy when I got a job at the blind center and we had been pretty good friends for awhile, but shortly before my Dad died, for some reason Nancy and I became more and more distant. I have a lot of guilt in my heart...
Nancy's friend Debbie was supposed to be my travel companion for the Mexico trip... but she decided not to go now and move back into Nancy's house until things get worked out, Nancy had no will or durable power of attorney or anything. Grand Circle Travel wants to charge me an extra $250 in Debbie's absence even though I paid insurance... they mumbled something about paying the insurance back but I'd still have to pay double occupancy for the room for two weeks in various locations. I was ready to give them my CC #, mom got off her phone call and stopped me and she's pissed... I went out to the hospital later, and mom said she was going to give them a call after she had company come and go. When I got home she was sacked out so who knows what's going to happen.
John told me Sara has kenotosis but I can't find much on that, I think he's got the wrong word, because from what I did find that just pertains to motion sickness. Sara's electrolites are really out of whack, along with her sugar and potassium. They moved her to a regular room today and claimed she MIGHT be going home tomorrow but I'm not very optimistic. I've been trying to hound John via text stating I think he got the wrong word for Sara's diagnosis, but haven't heard back from him. Scott, who just finished a medical term. class, was going to try to help as well, but without knowing fully what the word is we're at a loss. This morning, Sara's sugar was 68-69, this afternoon it was 555, it had been bouncing all over the place, and they were trying to feed her a standard diet, some with high sugar, and juice... Tomorrow I have my Stanford Neurology consultation... right now I just want to hide under a rock for awhile, I didn't get very much sleep last night due to agitation..
I'll keep you guys posted...I don't know how useful I'll be for cooking on Thursday.

Blarg

This is the general blarg blog... :P I really don't have much to say but I'm just keeping this thing up... btw, dork, I saw your coke blog and it really made me thirsty, but I didn't read it yet... I'm still not using my laptop until I can get the battery checked, whenever that will be. I've been having a headache the last couple of days trying to do anything with a lot of reading on the computer.. I can't wait to get to my neurology appt on Wednesday. I'm really going to have withdrawls on my Mexico trip, I'm leaving the laptop here for a couple reasons. 1.), it's flaky right now, and 2.) I honestly think that something happened to it when I took it with me to Florida and carried it through the airport and on board. I remember it used to be if you had something electronic or relative, you didn't have to have it zapped through security if you didn't want, but with the tight security measures, that's no option.
OK enough rambling... I probably won't be able to chat this week without the laptop...

OMG.....

After having a day from hell, I had an interesting experience... well, the hellish part was dealing with my mom being crabby at me for the better part of the day... sigh... if anyone wants to know, let me know.
Okay some of you may be familiar with FreeCycle (http://www.freecycle.org), I posted that we were trying to get rid of a small end table. I had one person respond and I looked at her email address, thinking "that name sounds REALLY familiar", so no sooner did I respond asking if that's who she was, I went to an old website where I thought I would know this person from, and sure enough, she was the owner of that website. I knew her way back when from the local BBS days.....(Black Lace was her handle)... so when she reads my e-mail she's probably gonna freak!!!!
Stay tuned... if she's available to pick up the table, it would be Sunday, so I'll see if I'm around to talk to her for a few. :)

Ugh...

Just dropping in to rant and rave about nothing in particular, you should be used to that by now! =P I was gone half the day, when I got home, I noticed that half of my recycle was spewed into the street... but, then attatched to the can was a note saying: "PLEASE MAKE SURE THE BIN OPENS IN FRONT" Oh my god.... how embarassing... my mom's been out of town so I had been taking care of the cans... but if the guy took the time to handwrite a note, they could have thrown the garbage back into the bin or something.

I just finished making a ?loaf? of Irish Soda Bread... it was a sticky mess and I had to put in a LOT of extra flour and even then I couldn't really knead it very well, however, it tastes ok although it got quite brown and I had to take it out 10 minutes early....Kristen I might bring you some tomorrow to critique (which would include throwing it across the room as long as you aim for Tim... hahahaha)

St. Patty's Day

Ello people,

What's up? Not a whole lot here really. I was surfing the net earlier in search of the long lost Shamrock Shakes from Mcdonalds, and I found an interesting link: They're baaaaaaack! Did you know they also used to have shamrock sundaes? This is a new discovery for me. John and I drove around last year (?) to about 3-4 McDonalds trying to find the shakes, and one of them had said that it was a corporate decision not to offer them anymore. Sure, there are knock-off recipes, but I bet none of them will ever taste the same.
I went with my friend Krissy today for lunch at:Pasta Pomodoro, I convinced her to get a vegetarian sandwich along with me, it was really good. It also came with a salad which was topped with gorgonzola cheese, makes a different taste treat for a typical salad. We had a little bit of bread with olive oil, the last two times we had gone there together, we never got our bread!
After that we roamed around Walgreens where I bought a few misc. odds and ends of necessity, it was hard looking down the Easter aisle and not buying anything for myself.
Finally we ended up at See's Candies where I didn't buy anything. We were both a little annoyed that they didn't give us free samples. They must have sensed that we were trying to lose weight or something; it's not like we're the size of elephants! So that was my day. I was wishing I could go out for St. Patty's Day since I'm part Irish (a whole fifth! ha!), but I'll just stay to myself and be lazy tonight (what else is new?) Last year John and I went to The Garret for lunch and John ordered a glass of Chardonnay for me and had them put a few drops of green food coloring in it. He told me that this morning he fixed oatmeal for himself and his mom and dabbed it with food coloring. Hmm, being that I"m not big on oatmeal, I really don't wanna comment on that although his mom got a kick out of it. I can't believe Easter's just around the corner... no plans. :(

Kooza

Okay so I went to Kooza tonight with family and a neighbor. (Kooza ="Cirque De Solei"). It was ok, we had seating in the 10th row, a lot of the acts were incredible, watching them just set my vertigo into orbit... let alone walking up the stairs to get into the seating area. Anyway, there was a half hour intermission so I made a couple of phone calls really quick, then I got on to Yahoo Messenger. I got a text so I texted back, and screwed up the text (sorry for YELLING in that text trung).. one of the "circus carnies" was paranoid; towards the end of intermission he was upset because I was using my phone.. I suppose it's because it was close to the end of intermission but still...? He came back around a few minutes later and glared at me for a minute to make sure the phone was nowhere visible... how stupid. I could see keeping my phone on vibrate as per their request, during the show but during ANY part of intermission? But then of course as the lights went down a few people were flashing their cameras... blah...
Aside from being crowded, and some things being a little hard to see, and some of the expensive crap, it was OK, I'm just glad to be home. (Oh yeah, I heard some guy complaining about a $5 hot dog)... hm, maybe he should have gone to Carls first and gotten a $6 burger??? haha
